In 1929 Chinese paleontologist Pei Wenzhong (1904-82) excavated the first complete fossilized Peking Man (an extinct hominin of the species Homo erectus) skullcap at Longgu Hill in Beijing and shocked the world. Twenty-four years later, the Zhoukoudian Site Museum was inaugurated just 500 meters away.
The museum has a collection of more than 7,000 cultural relics and a 4D cinema that present the discovery of the site and restore the life scenes of Peking Man.
