Covering 20,487 square meters, the Tengzhou Museum in East China’s Shandong province is a comprehensive and multi-functional modern museum integrating history, art, and culture in a grand building designed in the styles of the Han (206 BC-AD 220) and the Tang (618-907) dynasties.
The permanent exhibition at the museum introduces the historical development of Tengzhou from the Beixin Culture(5400-4400 BC)of the Neolithic Age to the Civil War (1946-49) period. The museum also takes full advantage of its cultural relics to build special exhibition halls with their own characteristics to fully demonstrate the profound culture of Tengzhou.
Opened to the public in 2020, the new building of the Tengzhou Museum has become a city landmark, publicizing the history and culture of Tengzhou, exuding its ancient charm and promoting development of all its economic and social undertakings.
The collections of the Tengzhou Museum now number 82,072, and feature the Beixin Culture, bronze wares of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties (c.16th century -256 BC), and jades from the Neolithic Age to the Xia Dynasty (c.21st century-16th century BC), the Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC), and the Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-256 BC). The museum is renowned for its bronze wares with beautiful motifs and rich inscriptions and has the largest collection of bronze wares in Shandong province. In 2005, it was rated as one of the top 10 provincial museums.
