Feb 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality and 7 in Guangdong province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 72 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,372 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 5.
As of 24:00 on Feb 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,804 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,527 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 277 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Feb 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,706 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 83,952 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,118 confirmed cases (including 20 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 971,472 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 27,636 were still under medical observation.
On Feb 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new asymptomatic cases (including 15 imported cases). 59 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 8 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 7, 639 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 291 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Feb 7, 11,610 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,635 in Hong Kong (186 had died and 9,887 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 927 in Taiwan (9 had died and 844 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
