Tai'an focused on promoting the supply-side structural reform of animal husbandry industry to help rural revitalization during the 13 Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
The animal husbandry has become a powerful engine to promote agricultural and rural economic development in the city.
The Yongsen dairy farm in Xiangyin town, Ningyang county has more than 1,100 dairy cows which can produce 13 tons of milk every day, with an annual sales revenue of more than 20 million yuan ($3.05 million) .
The farm created job opportunities for villagers. More than 40 local villagers are working in the farm, and more than 800 surrounding farmers are engaged in silage corn cultivation to fodder for cows.
“The farm is close to my home and working here, I can earn 3600 yuan a month, which solves the economic difficulties of my family,” Liang Shoujun, a local village said.
As an important part of the rural revitalization strategy, animal husbandry plays an important role in ensuring the effective supply of livestock products and increasing farmers' income.
In recent years, the town has made great efforts to promote the transformation and development of animal husbandry and provide supports in environmental protection and finance.
Local government has worked to solve the problems of using land, water and electricity for the dairy farms and help enterprises regulate the prevention and control of animal epidemic.
Xiangyin town currently is home to 24 large-scale livestock and poultry farms covering the breeding of dairy cows, pigs and broilers.
The output value of animal husbandry accounts for more than 40 percent of the total agricultural output value. A modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly animal husbandry development pattern in the town has taken shape.
