Feb 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 30 new cases of confirmed infections (18 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 12 indigenous cases, 8 in Heilongjiang province and 4 in Jilin province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 62 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,630 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Feb 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,735 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,426 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 309 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,594 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 83,376 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,582 confirmed cases (including 72 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 967,415 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 37,319 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (including 8 imported cases). 28 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 17 imported cases) and 6 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Feb 1, 872 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 287 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 1, 11,445 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,486 in Hong Kong (182 had died and 9,474 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 912 in Taiwan (8 had died and 830 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
