High-tech enterprises booming in Wuxi

A total of 1,772 Wuxi-based enterprises were recently recognized as high-tech enterprises by East China's Jiangsu province in 2020.

The number of high-tech enterprises in Wuxi grew by 44.8 percent in 2020, topping Jiangsu province, according to the city's science and technology bureau. To date, the city is home to 4,030 high-tech enterprises.

Wuxi has been working to develop small and medium-sized high-tech enterprises, increase investment in technological projects, introduce innovation resources and optimize service procedures.

In 2020, Wuxi urged 2,704 enterprises to apply for the title of "high-tech" enterprise, an increase of 61.9 percent year-on-year. Most of the enterprises are engaged in advanced manufacturing, electronic information and new materials.

Yao Xinhua, deputy director of Wuxi Bee Measurement and Control Technology Co, said that the company's R&D team of about 30 workers focuses on temperature monitoring and creating information platforms across the entire chain of drug storage, transportation, and distribution. Technological innovation could promote the company's competitiveness.

Sun Lixin, director of Aerospace New Sky Technology Co, said that the company will invest more than 10 percent of its total expenditures into R&D. The company has 52 invention patents and 16 software copyrights. Over 35 percent of its employees are involved in the research and development of space technology.
