Feb 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 42 new cases of confirmed infections (9 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Guangdong province; 33 indigenous cases, 22 in Heilongjiang province, 10 in Jilin province and 1 in Hebei province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 96 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,254 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 8.

As of 24:00 on Jan 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,717 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,415 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 302 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,564 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 83,314 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,614 confirmed cases (including 68 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 966,680 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 38,217 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new asymptomatic cases (including 6 imported cases). 30 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 5 imported cases) and 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 31, 891 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 297 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 31, 11,410 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,452 in Hong Kong (181 had died and 9,423 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 911 in Taiwan (8 had died and 830 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
