Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been awarded the title (valid for three years) of "China's Dairy City" by the China Dairy Industry Association, according to Hohhot Daily.
With two world famous dairy brands - Yili Group and Mengniu Dairy - headquartered in the city, Hohhot sees the dairy industry one of its most competitive industries, and plans to develop an upgraded version of China's Dairy City, as stated in a masterplan outlined by the city government's work report.
In 2019, Yili Group and Mengniu Dairy were among the top 10 global dairy companies.
The city boasts a dynamic industry supply, with large market potential both at home and abroad.
It will focus on implementing key projects including the Yili Modern Smart Health Valley and the Mengniu Dairy Industrial Park.
The city will also begin construction of more than 10 large-scale dairy cattle farms, as well as developing a National Dairy Technology Innovation Center.
Hohhot plans to make the construction of the Yili Modern Smart Health Valley project a new starting point to expand space for industrial tourism.
