Jan 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 52 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Hunan province; 36 indigenous cases, 21 in Heilongjiang province, 13 in Jilin province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Hebei province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (1 imported case in Shanghai and 1 indigenous case in Beijing), and no deaths. 70 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,448 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 6.

As of 24:00 on Jan 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,673 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,373 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 300 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Jan 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,378 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,940 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,802 confirmed cases (including 99 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 963,237 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 38,876 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 42 new asymptomatic cases (including 19 imported cases). 22 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 12 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Jan 28, 996 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 293 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 28, 11,263 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,321 in Hong Kong (177 had died and 9,239 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 895 in Taiwan (7 had died and 809 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
