Jan 26: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 82 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 69 indigenous cases, 53 in Heilongjiang province, 7 in Jilin province, 5 in Hebei province, 2 in Beijing municipality and 2 in Shanghai), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and 1 death (an indigenous case in Jilin). 46 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,351 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,624 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,332 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 292 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 25, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,197 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,676 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,885 confirmed cases (including 110 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 957,984 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 38,443 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 57 new asymptomatic cases (including 16 imported cases). 25 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 9 imported cases) and 35 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Jan 25, 956 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 283 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 25, 11,094 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,158 in Hong Kong (171 had died and 9,056 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 889 in Taiwan (7 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
