Jan 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 124 new cases of confirmed infections (7 imported cases, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Fujian province; 117 indigenous cases, 67 in Jilin province, 35 in Heilongjiang province, 11 in Hebei province, 3 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Shanghai), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 75 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,157 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 15.

As of 24:00 on Jan 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,611 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,323 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital (reduced by 1 after verification). There still remained 288 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,115 confirmed cases and 4,635 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,630 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital (reduced by 1 after verification). There still remained 1,850 confirmed cases (including 109 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 956,533 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 38,345 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 45 new asymptomatic cases (including 16 imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and 85 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 24, 959 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 277 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 24, 11,021 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,085 in Hong Kong (169 had died and 9,034 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 889 in Taiwan (7 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
