Dong said the committee will make more efforts to unite people in different parties and circles to work under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, which celebrates its centenary in July.
The year 2021 is also the first year of the country's 14th Five-Year Plan period. Dong said the committee will further leverage the institutional advantage of the country's political consultation, participate in the country's new development paradigm, and provide high-quality advice to help Shanghai maintain its competitive edge in the new round of technological and industrial revolution.
The members of CPPCC Shanghai committee have submitted 1,027 proposals since last year, according to Li Yiping, deputy chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai committee.
Around 83.3 percent of the proposals were adopted or resolved by related government departments while 12.4 percent were awaiting future reference, Li said.
