Jan 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 107 new cases of confirmed infections (17 imported cases, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Shanxi province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 90 indigenous cases, 56 in Heilongjiang province, 15 in Hebei province, 13 in Jilin province, 3 in Beijing municipality and 3 in Shanghai), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were in Shanghai, 1 imported case and 1 indigenous case), and no deaths. 31 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,701 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 5.

As of 24:00 on Jan 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,589 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,296 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 293 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 88,911 confirmed cases and 4,635 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,526 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,750 confirmed cases (including 85 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 951,804 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 36,503 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 99 new asymptomatic cases (including 10 imported cases). 37 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 30 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 22, 961 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 270 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 22, 10,856 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 9,928 in Hong Kong (168 had died and 8,948 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 47 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 881 in Taiwan (7 had died and 777 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
