Heartwarming film A Little Red Flower, the top earner at China's box office since its release on New Year's Eve, saw its total earnings hit 1.2 billion yuan ($185 million) as of Monday evening.
The hit drama continued to lead the daily chart after garnering an opening day revenue of 237 million yuan, data from China Movie Data Information Network showed.
The movie drove China's box office to exceed 600 million yuan on New Year's Day, a record high for the holiday, accounting for more than 40 percent of the daily total.
Movie-ticketing and film data platform Maoyan forecast the total earnings of the home production to reach 1.38 billion yuan at China's box office.
China's 2020 box office was 20.4 billion yuan, of which the top 10 earners were all domestic productions, according to official figures.
