ACCRA -- The 9th batch of Chinese medical team in Ghana that just completed their one-year duty here said Tuesday the team has treated a total of more than 4,000 local patients and performed around 200 operations last year.
Shi Yongyong, chief of the team, said all team members were persistent in their duties in the China-Ghana Friendship Hospital despite the continuing COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
According to Shi, the team also played an active part in combating the pandemic with their Ghanaian counterparts.
"We reached out for medical supplies to the hospital and invited Ghanaian medical workers to webinars by which they could exchange ideas with China's top-notch experts on fighting against the pandemic," said Shi.
The Chinese medical team mainly consisted of doctors from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one of the best hospitals featuring Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)in China.
Shi said the team has been committed to using TCM therapies to treat local patients and promoting TCM culture to local medical staff, which has received heartwarming feedback.
"The popularity of TCM among locals is currently on the rise," Shi added.
