Jan 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 103 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Fujian province; 88 indigenous cases, 46 in Jilin province, 19 in Hebei province, 16 in Heilongjiang province and 7 in Beijing municipality), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,102 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,545 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,269 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 276 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 88,557 confirmed cases and 4,635 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,449 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,473 confirmed cases (including 62 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 944,196 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 34,966 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 58 new asymptomatic cases (including 15 imported cases). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 8 imported cases) and 39 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 19, 819 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 266 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 19, 10,634 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 9,720 in Hong Kong (165 had died and 8,828 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 868 in Taiwan (7 had died and 766 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
