Shanghai Disney Resort announced on Friday that it would introduce a slew of Chinese traditional decorations, entertainment, merchandise and catering during the Spring Festival season to welcome the upcoming Chinese New Year.
Between Jan 19 and Feb 26, the resort will be decorated in iconic Chinese symbols, with Disney figures like Mickey Mouse dressed in their holiday outfits that feature the Year of the Ox, which officially starts on Feb 12 according to the Chinese zodiac.
Clarabelle Cow, a long-time friend of Mickey Mouse, will also make her debut at the resort during this period.
A unique show called "Our Families" is set to take place every day after the Nighttime Spectacular. On the Mickey Avenue, Disney characters will preside over the "Spring Festival Drum Ceremony".
The resort said it will be offering a suite of reunion dishes that either feature traditional family feasts, buffets, or set menus for two, across all its restaurants. Specially-designed New Year merchandise will also hit the shelves.
Shanghai Disneyland is scheduled to celebrate its fifth anniversary in June.
