When the name mocha is mentioned, it usually evokes the image of the chocolate-flavored variant of a caffè latte. The name is derived from the city of Mocha, Yemen, which was one of the centers of early coffee trade.

Now it could mean a vehicle as well. On Jan 15, China's largest SUV maker Great Wall Motors unveiled its latest model under its premium marque Wey. The model will hit the market on Jan 20.

Great Wall Motors said the mocha is the first model to feature the carmaker's Smart Coffee, a system unveiled in the second half of 2020.

The model sports Qualcomm's class-leading SnapDragon 8155 chip, the auto-grade 5G and V2X hardware, the auto-grade lidar, the augmented-reality head-up display as well as the Level 3 autonomous driving domain controller.

The company calls the Smart Coffee system the "digital engine" of its transition to a global mobility company.

Great Wall Motors said it covers autonomous driving, electrical systems, and smart cabins. It is compatible with the Ethernet, 5G and vehicle-to-everything technology.

Based on the smart system, Level 3 autonomous driving will start to work from 2021 and will grow into Level 4 and above.
