Yixing releases two five-year plans to develop pillar industries

Yixing, a prefecture-level city in Wuxi, released two five-year development plans for the environmental protection industry and wire and cable industry on Jan 9.

The wire and cable industry is Yixing's most important industry. The city is home to about 700 enterprises working in the industry, of which 139 are above designated size. In 2020, the industry's output value exceeded 100 billion yuan ($15.5 billion).

Yixing is also home to 44 high-tech enterprises in the wire and cable industry, two national engineering technology research centers, and 18 academician workstations and post-doctoral technology innovation centers.

According to the plan, by 2025, the industrial scale of the wire and cable industry will see double-digit growth. Its output value is expected to reach 200 billion yuan.

In 2020, the output value of Yixing's environmental protection industry exceeded 20 billion yuan. It is home to 171 environmental protection enterprises above designated size, 141 high-tech enterprises in the industry, 668 valid invention patents, and two academician workstations.

Yixing has also built its first national environmental protection technology standard innovation base.

By 2025, the output value of the environmental protection industry in Yixing is expected to reach 50 billion yuan, according to the five-year plan.
