Great Wall Motors launches Haval Chulian for first-time buyers

China's largest SUV and pickup maker Great Wall Motors launched Haval Chulian, which literally means first love in the English language, on Monday in Xiamen, Fujian province, one of the most popular destinations in the country for lovers and couples.

The compact Chulian has four variants. No kidding, they are called Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior, respectively, priced from 78,900 yuan to 112,900 yuan.

Great Wall Motors said the Chulian is designed as the first vehicle for the young customers in the country's growing market.

Statistics show that for the Generation Z, 90 percent are concerned about how the vehicle looks, 87 percent, price and safety, and 80 percent, smart functions.

The model has a young and progressive design, with a signature front look. Inside the vehicle, it features 64-color ambience lights as well as Level 2 autonomous functions and 360-degree parking assist.

It is also the first model in the industry to detect the emotions of the driver, and it will offer different choices accordingly.

It can also detect whether the driver is distracted or tired and will give warning to ensure their safety.

At the same event, Great Wall Motors launched the third-generation Haval H6 2.0-Liter SUV, which has been sitting on top of best-selling SUVs in the country.

The 2.0-liter engine generates a maximum output of 155 kW and a top torque of 325 Nm.

Besides it features 5G functions and firmware over-the-air update. The new Haval H6 SUV has Level 2 autonomous functions based on Mobileye Q4 chips. Its speech-recognition is 97 percent accurate.

A total of 78,326 new Haval H6s have been sold since its launch four months ago.
