BEIJING -- Chinese prosecutors lodged over 8,900 protests against incorrect judgments over criminal cases in the past year, up 7.3 percent year on year, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).
China's procuratorial organs had worked to supervise the country's investigatory bodies and urged them to accept more than 21,000 cases and withdraw over 23,000 cases, up 34 percent and 58.3 percent year on year, respectively, the SPP data showed.
Circuit procuratorial work over prisons had been improved, the top procuratorate said, adding that the top procuratorate itself took direct responsibility for circuit procuratorial work in three prisons and a batch of serious violations of regulations and laws had been found and corrected.
