CHINGOLA -- China is a true friend of Zambia as Chinese are committed to assisting Zambia fight COVID-19 pandemic to safeguard the lives of the Zambian people, an industry group has said.
Samuel Musonda, president of Chililabombwe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said safeguarding the lives of the Zambian people will help in some way to stabilize the economic growth of Zambia.
"What is important is that China being a good friend of Zambia has come on board to assist the nation with assorted medical equipment to fight the pandemic, and this is not the first donation that Chinese are donating to Zambians," he said.
The Chinese government on Thursday donated more medical equipment to help Zambia tackle the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The donated equipment includes ventilators, oxygen ventilators and other equipment meant to prevent and manage the pandemic.
Musonda said the medical equipment will go a long way in health delivery services especially this time when Zambia is faced with COVID-19 challenges just like other nations across the world.
And Fred Musonda, president of Chingola Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said China's donation of medical equipment towards the fight against COVID-19 is a step in the right direction.
"The donations from China are also an indication that China values the friendship with Zambia," he said.
While, Moses Bwalya, a resident of Chingola called on the Zambian government to ensure that the bilateral relations between the two countries are strengthened for the benefit of the people.
"What we are witnessing are the results of good cooperation between the two countries," he said.
Bwalya said Zambia will benefit more from China not only from medical equipment but also from skills and technology transfer.
