The actual use of foreign capital in Yantai, Shandong province hit $1.99 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 36.9 percent from January to November.
According to officials, the total volume exceeded last year’s amount and ranked second in the province.
During this period, the city introduced a total of 123 foreign-funded projects, an increase of 32.3 percent, with $4.3 billion in contractual foreign investment.
In addition, some Global Fortune 500 companies such as the South Korean SK Holdings, the French Air Liquide Group, and the Japanese Sharp Corporation set up branches in Yantai for the first time.
Actual use of foreign capital in equipment manufacturing increased significantly as well. The equipment manufacturing industry used $190 million in foreign investment, up 56 percent, and the use of foreign capital in transport equipment manufacturing increased by a factor of 6.8.
