On Jan 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new cases of confirmed infections (14 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 8 indigenous cases, 7 in Liaoning and 1 in Beijing municipality), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 9 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 413 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Jan 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,287 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,015 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 272 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Jan 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 87,093 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,076 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 383 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 906,634 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 14,311 were still under medical observation.
On Jan 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new asymptomatic cases (including 18 imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 15 imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Jan 1, 280 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 229 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Jan 1, 9,736 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 8,888 in Hong Kong (149 had died and 7,912 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 802 in Taiwan (7 had died and 682 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
