Sino-Japanese Jiangxi Isuzu Motors kicked off the fourth joint scientific expedition with its partner Chinese National Geography on Dec 29 in Beijing, continuing the journey that has already measured over 30,000 kilometers.

The four-section expedition will start with a foray into the Taklamakan desert in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, as homage to Swedish explorer Sven Hedin and finally follow the steps of British missionary Samuel Pollard into Northeast Yunnan province.

In 2020, the two finished their third expedition, where the explorers visited Golmud in Qinghai province and went upward to the headstream of the Yangtze River, the Tuotuo River.

They also traversed the Altun Shan Nature Reserve, on the northern edge of the Tibetan plateau and the southern edge of the Tarim Basin in northwest China.

At the Dec 29 event, Jiangxi Isuzu unveiled its latest model, the all-new D-MAX. Since the first-generation D-MAX hit the market in 1972, over 2.3 million units have been sold in more than 120 countries and regions around the world.

It was launched first in Southeast Asia. In the first three quarters, over 110,000 were sold, seizing a market share of 44.6 percent.

Jiangxi Isuzu announced that the model will hit the market on May 10, 2021, in China, with latest updates in terms of exterior, interior, chassis and configurations. The model will be available in seven colors.
