Dec 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new cases of confirmed infections (12 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Guangdong province; 15 indigenous cases, 8 in Liaoning province and 7 in Beijing municipality), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 547 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Dec 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,230 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,965 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 265 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Dec 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 87,003 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,021 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 348 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 902,187 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 11,909 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (including 6 imported cases). 6 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 7 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 28, 262 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 215 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Dec 28, 9,510 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 8,671 in Hong Kong (141 had died and 7,526 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 793 in Taiwan (7 had died and 654 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
