The Museumof Jin Merchants in North China’s Shanxi province recently opened to the public after two-years of preparation.
Jin Merchants, or Shanxi merchants, played an important role in finance and trade during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911).
The museum is set on the site of the Shanxi Army Commander Office which had been the provincial political center for centuries. The Shanxi provincial government occupied these historical structures as its seat of office from 1949 to 2017.
