Dec 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 6 indigenous cases in Liaoning province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 16 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 728 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Dec 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,218 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,948 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 270 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Dec 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,976 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 82,003 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 339 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 901,517 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 11,791 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (including 16 imported cases). No asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 27, 267 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 219 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Dec 27, 9,441 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 8,610 in Hong Kong (137 had died and 7,474 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 785 in Taiwan (7 had died and 653 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
