BEIJING -- The Intellectual Property (IP) Court of China's Supreme People's Court (SPC) had decided 4,124 intellectual property rights (IPR) cases as of Wednesday since its launch on Jan. 1, 2019.

The IP Court accepted 5,104 IPR cases during the same period and set down 418 specific rules for the application of law, the court said in a report Thursday.

The IP Court of the SPC mainly hears appeals on patents, monopolies and other technology-related IP cases from across the nation.

To meet the requirements of handling IPR cases, the IP Court has made efforts to strengthen team building and enhance its judicial capacity.

The court currently has 38 judges and 44 of their assistants, with 42 percent of the judges holding a doctorate, 37 percent with science and engineering backgrounds, and 21 percent with overseas qualifications, figures from IP Court show.
