Dec 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new cases of confirmed infections (11 imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Guangdong province; 6 indigenous cases in Liaoning), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 22 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 669 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Dec 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,174 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,900 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 274 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Dec 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,899 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,950 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 315 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 894,409 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,488 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (including 14 imported cases). 3 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 6 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 23, 229 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 187 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Dec 23, 9,175 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 8,353 in Hong Kong (133 had died and 7,112 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 776 in Taiwan (7 had died and 635 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
