US, China have many shared interests

There are so many areas in which China and the United States have shared interests, as well as some areas where neither of the two countries can succeed by itself, such as the Paris climate accord, scientific research and trade issues, said Graham Allison, professor of government at Harvard University.

In these areas, China and the US have to find ways to be fierce rivals and intense partners at the same time, Allison added.
