Cultural industry players conferred annual award

Shanghai gave awards to a number of leading players in the cultural industry on Monday, praising their contributions to the city's ambition of becoming an international center for performing arts, filmmaking, esports and trade of artworks.

This is the third year the city has hosted the annual "Top 10" awards for its cultural industry. Twenty companies, 20 individuals and 10 cultural events were presented with awards.

The event was hosted by the Yicai Media Co Ltd under the guidance of the city's publicity department and the municipal administration of culture and tourism.

This year, the awards received more than 200 nominations that covered a wide range of cultural sectors such as publication, filmmaking, live performance, art trading, investment, cultural estate management, tourism, esports and Internet culture and technology.

China Literature Ltd, a leading e-publication platform, was on the list of the top 10 leading companies in Shanghai's cultural industry, while its CEO Cheng Wu was on the list of the top 10 cultural industry leaders.

Cheng said that Internet Literature is a unique cultural phenomenon in China that is read by more than 400 million people.

China Literature Ltd has nurtured 8.9 million authors, who have created 13.4 million novels and stories, many of which have been successfully adapted to film and television.
