Dec 15: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new cases of confirmed infections (14 imported cases, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Guangdong province; 3 indigenous cases, 2 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Sichuan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,134 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Dec 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,049 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,787 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 262 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Dec 14, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,758 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,812 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 312 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 888,359 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,852 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 6 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 14, 196 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 183 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Dec 14, 8,409 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 7,623 in Hong Kong (120 had died and 6,266 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 740 in Taiwan (7 had died and 606 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
