Li Zhenqiang, deputy director of the Press and Publication Bureau of Jiangsu Province (copyright bureau of Jiangsu province) and deputy director of the province's national reading office, visited the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) on Dec 3 to inspect a demonstration book corner project.
As a private practical project, the development zone applied to the provincial government for special funds of 3.5 million yuan ($535,258) to set up 29 Taofen book bars and four Taofen study rooms in NETDA.
By the end of November, the project had been accepted for funding. The four five-star book bars in Xinkai, Xiaohai, Zhuhang and Zhongxing sub-districts have their own characteristics, and are open 24 hours a day for local residents to browse and read books.
