Dec 10: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new cases of confirmed infections (11 imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangdong province; 1 indigenous case in Inner Mongolia autonomous region), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 11 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 382 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Dec 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,980 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,738 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 242 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Dec 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,673 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,754 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 285 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 885,409 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,659 were still under medical observation.
On Dec 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 5 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 12 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 9, 201 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 193 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Dec 9, 7,945 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 7,179 in Hong Kong (114 had died and 5,783 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 720 in Taiwan (7 had died and 585 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
