The Institute of Biomedicine and Enlarged Health of Shanxi University (SXU) was founded on Dec 1 at the campus located in Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province.
SXU President Huang Guitian told the foundation ceremony that in recent years the university had strengthened the development of new scientific research platforms and achieved remarkable results.
Based on its national key disciplines and key laboratories, the university has been building 10 large scientific research platforms targeting 14 strategic emerging industries in Shanxi, he said.
The Institute of Biomedicine and Enlarged Health is its high-level scientific research platform, to serve the development of modern medicine and health industries in Shanxi.
The institute will rely on its access to the rich resources of traditional Chinese medicinal materials, miscellaneous grains and healthcare-featured tourism in the province. It will leverage them to recruit experts and take advantage of intellectual resources in the fields of biomedicine and health -- both inside and outside the university -- to build an innovative atmosphere for the integration of basic and applied disciplines.
