Tencent helps Xi'an's digital city construction

Tencent, a digital solutions provider, has hosted its 2020 Tencent Digital Eco Conference City Summit in Xi'an, capital city of Shaanxi province in Northwest China, in order to help the digital upgrading of industries in the city and in the wider northwest region.

Opening on Dec 1, the summit focused on the industrial internet, aiming at industrial progress, urban co-construction and ecological co-prosperity.

Qiu Yuepeng, vice president of Tencent Group and president of Tencent Cloud, said at the summit that in the rapid development of the digital economy, new infrastructure is "roads", data is "oil", and new industry and new cities are "vehicles", providing efficient digital carrying capacity for various industries and governments. Through the coordinated operation of "road-oil-vehicle", a new engine is provided for the development of the digital economy.

“In the future, Tencent will base itself on the city and serve the province, and work together with partners to promote the digital transformation of Northwest China and the areas covered by the Belt and Road Initiative,” Qiu said.

Wang Fengping, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Xi'an Municipal People's Congress, said that the development of Xi'an is inseparable from the cooperation and participation of enterprises. Tencent is a leading enterprise in the international internet industry and an important partner in Xi'an's development, which has made important contributions to the economic and social development of Xi'an.

At the summit, Tencent and Xi'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone signed a cooperation agreement. The two sides will discuss the development of Xi'an's digital economy around the integration of a future city named WeCity.

Meanwhile, Tencent Cloud Computing (Xi'an) Co., Ltd. was also unveiled.

According to the strategic cooperation agreement between the city and Tencent, the two sides will, with the help of Tencent's core capabilities in cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence, carry out in-depth cooperation on the construction of a talent training system and the construction of a smart city, jointly promote the construction of the smart city in the high-tech zone, and fully utilize Xi'an's unique industrial internet advantages.
