Wuxi-based new-energy carmaker starts production

A red electric Sunra Brilliance-branded passenger car rolled off the production line in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on Dec 2, marking the start of production at the new-energy carmaker's plant.

The model, called i03, is a two-door four-seat high-speed electric car featuring a pleasant interior space, and good acceleration, performance, mileage and safety configurations.

Sunra Brilliance, established in 2018, is a joint venture between Wuxi-based electric vehicle industry leader Sunra and Chinese carmaker Brilliance Auto. It is the first local new energy vehicle producer to operate in Wuxi.

The first phase of the company's plants covers about 26.7 hectares and includes four process production lines for stamping, welding, painting and final assembly. So far, it is producing two kinds of pure electric cars -- the models called i03 and i03A.

By 2023, it is expected to have an annual production and sales capacity of 200,000 pure electric passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles.

Sunra Brilliance works on the development of new-energy passenger cars and modified vehicles, aiming to build lightweight new-energy vehicles with intelligence and fashionable style. Officials said that the company is expected to promote the development of the new-energy industry in Wuxi.
