Starting Tuesday, residents in Beijing and Shanghai can use the transport apps in their phone to take subways in both cities thanks to the country's integrated development of transportation.

According to the Beijing transport commission on Tuesday, Beijing residents who use the app called "Yitongxing" to take subways in the capital can also use it in Shanghai to enter and pay for subways during their travel or stay in Shanghai.

The new service will also allow Shanghai residents who usually use the app "Metro" to take subways in the city to take the subway in the capital as well.

The new service is carried out with the idea that Beijing and Shanghai, as the political center and key financial center in China, have the largest-scale subway systems in the country with daily passenger volume for each passing 10 million regularly.

As the communication between the two cities grows, demand for mutual public transportation increases. The new service will allow residents in the two cities to avoid having to download new apps to take subways in a different city.
