The China Media Museum at the Communication University of China (CUC) is the first national level comprehensive museum integrating collections, exhibitions, historical research, cultural and creative education and the experience of media culture in China. It is the first of its kind in the domestic museum and media industry.
The museum was completed on Oct 26, 2012 and is divided into four pavilions highlighting broadcasting, television, film and transmission. In addition to the pavilions, there are seven halls and a corridor featuring media technology in an exhibition area of about 3,000 square meters.
It houses over 12,000 exhibits, including 1,000 pictures of documents and archives, 4,000 audio-video materials, and 7,000 cultural relics, which tell the stories of the big events in the history of broadcasting, television and film in China and abroad.
The museum became the 164th museum to be approved by the municipal relics bureau and opened to the public on Dec 26, 2012. In 2013, it was named an education base for Beijing residents.
