Beijing Capital International Airport completed the installation of a 5G network recently, following the Beijing Daxing International Airport's 5G network, which was completed earlier.
The new network at the older airport allows 240,000 people to simultaneously surf the internet at high speeds, the airport authority said. The network now covers all areas of Terminals 1, 2 and 3, as well as parking aprons and garages.
Tests found that the airport's average 5G download speeds can reach up to 1,000 Mbps. The Beijing branch of China Mobile has set up offices in both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 to provide passengers with various mobile business services.
According to the Beijing city government, the municipality has been accelerating the construction of 5G, and most areas within the Fifth Ring Road are covered.
