PHNOM PENH -- The All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) on Nov 20 provided a number of anti-COVID-19 materials to the National Union Alliance Chamber of Cambodia (NACC).
The donation was made through the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD)'s office in Cambodia.
CFPD-Cambodia director Zhang Yaowu handed over the items, including 300,000 face masks, 20 disinfection machines, and dozens of protective suits, gloves, face shields and boots, to NACC's president Som Aun at a ceremony held in Phnom Penh.
Speaking at the event, Zhang said that Cambodia has done a great job in containing the spread of the COVID-19.
"I hope that this donation will help the NACC to strengthen its efforts to prevent the virus from spreading to garment and footwear factories," he said.
Som Aun expressed his profound appreciation and thanks to the ACFTU for the generous donation, saying that it would contribute further to deepening people-to-people relations between the two countries.
"China is a true friend and always helps Cambodia in all circumstances," he said. "This donation is very useful and timely respond to the need of the Cambodian workers. We will never forget this generous support."
According to Som Aun, Blue Sky Rescue Team, a Chinese non-governmental organization, has also helped train 15 NACC volunteers on how to use the disinfection machines and they will soon start spraying disinfectants at workers' rental rooms.
The Southeast Asian country has recorded a total of 304 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, the Ministry of Health said, adding that none have died and 294 have recovered.
