Flower planting bolsters Hechi's economy

In recent years, Hechi's flower industry has developed rapidly and brightened even more fields. At present, the total area of flower planting in Hechi is 18,500 mu (1,233.33 hectares),producing an annual output value of over 700 million yuan ($106.4 million).

Flower growers in Hechi plant nearly 100 kinds of flower seedlings, including osmanthus, golden scented tea, bougainvillea, rhododendron, crape myrtle, and phalaenopsis. The city has 250 flower planting and management entities and one flower planting village. It also has one autonomous regional level forestry core demonstration zone, two autonomous regional key forestry industrialization leading enterprises, one flower and seedling sightseeing base, and one national forest ecological product supplier.

In addition, Hechi has vigorously promoted the development model of integration of the flower industry and tourism. It has developed rural tourism according to local conditions through land circulation, group development, packaging planning, cultural and tourism innovation, and other means, creating sightseeing and vigorous leisure agriculture and natural eco-tourism that increases people's income and promotes rural revitalization.
