Northeastern Beijing's Miyun district has rolled out favorable policies and major projects to boost tourism and culture development.
Miyun will provide support to distinctive homestays, rural tourism destinations, museums, libraries and bookstores to upgrade itself into a demonstration zone for culture, travel and leisure experiences in 2021, according to the district's tourism development conference on November 18.
History and culture elements will be the focus for the east of Miyun, while the west of the district will offer more experiences reminiscent of the country's revolutionary history. The north of Miyun will abound in farming and camping tourism resources, while fashion, sport and pastoral charm will be found in the south.
The district is striving to increase the income of its major scenic spots by 40 percent year-on-year to 826 million yuan ($126) by the end of 2021, according to Miyun's publicity department head Ge Junkai.
