East China's city of Jinan has completed nucleic acid tests for 7,517 people, all testing negative for COVID-19, after imported frozen food and packaging in the cold storage of a logistics park in the city tested positive for the virus, according to the municipal health commission on Sunday.
Batches of frozen beef products imported from Brazil, New Zealand and Bolivia entered China through customs in Shanghai. A total of 3,535 items tested positive for coronavirus. Among them, 1,149 had been distributed and 2,386 were in storage. The inventory has since been sealed.
The commission said the 7,517 people tested were those who had access to the goods and their close contacts. They remain under centralized or home quarantine.
The municipal government has vowed to further strengthen epidemic control and implement the closed-loop management of cold-chain foods.
