More than 60 overseas Zhejiang businessmen from 15 countries and regions met in China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone (Zhejiang FTZ) in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 14, local media reported.

At the meeting, they expressed intent to invest 6 billion yuan ($912.04 million) into six projects, aiming to boost industrial upgrading and high-quality development in the FTZ.

"We are a cross-border e-commerce service supplier and help foreign trade companies in China to expand into international markets," said Chen Jianxu, president of Bossgoo, who plans to build a foreign trade promotion platform in the Zhejiang FTZ.

The platform will be of great importance to the development of foreign trade and cross-border e-commerce in Zhoushan.

Ding Dekun, president of Zhongrui, which has invested in a new materials project in Zhoushan, is confident about the city's development prospects over the next 10 years.

Ding said that, as Zhoushan is promoting marine construction projects, there will be a huge demand for new materials, which bodes well for his project.

At present, Zhejiang is home to more than 40,000 companies funded by overseas Zhejiang businessmen, accounting for over 60 percent of the total foreign-invested companies in the province, according to Liao Chunrong, chairman of the Zhejiang Association of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs.

Liao said that Zhoushan features unique regional advantages, abundant port and coastal resources, and a solid industrial foundation.

Zhoushan has been developing rapidly ever since the establishment of the Zhejiang FTZ in 2017, added Liao.

He expressed hope that the six projects will help Zhoushan attract more overseas Chinese businessmen and returnees.

Moreover, an alliance including 72 overseas Chinese groups and overseas Zhejiang businessmen organizations, was established in Zhoushan on the same day.
