The 2020 World 5G Convention, to be held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, from Nov 26 to 28, will highlight the role of 5G in changing the world's new economic pattern.
It will feature the role of 5G in China's new "dual circulation" economic pattern, upgrading traditional industries and facilitating a digitalized lifestyle, said Chen Anming, deputy secretary-general of the Guangdong provincial government, at a news conference in Guangzhou on Tuesday.
Some international guests, including Nicolas Chapuis, ambassador of the European Union to China, and John Hoffman, CEO of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association, will attend the convention online.
Around 60 executives from domestic and foreign companies and 20 academicians from home and abroad have confirmed their attendance.
A 12,000-square-meter exhibition will showcase outstanding 5G application by innovative players.
China's Huawei Technologies, for example, will display 5G empowerment in sectors such as port and mine management, iron and steel production and power generation, said Yang Jun, deputy director of the provincial science and technology department.
Guangdong leads all provinces in China in building 5G base stations, with more than 110,000 already installed. Provincial authorities have been promoting 5G applications for smart cities, education, healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture and traffic, Chen said.
