Nov 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Nov 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Shaanxi province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 19 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,365 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Nov 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,701 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,348 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 353 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Nov 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,346 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,338 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 374 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 873,756 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 14,232 were still under medical observation.
On Nov 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 78 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 20 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Nov 15, 548 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 416 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Nov 15, 6,106 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,458 in Hong Kong (108 had died and 5,194 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 602 in Taiwan (7 had died and 536 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
