Shanxi looks to future of Chinese coal industry

The sixth China International Coal Clean and Efficient Utilization Exhibition (CICCE) was held in Taiyuan city, capital of North China's coal-rich Shanxi province on Nov 8-10.

With the theme of "clean and low-carbon, efficient utilization, energy revolution, cooperation and sharing", this year's event aimed to make contributions to the technological innovation and progress of the coal industry and the sustainable development of coal.

The exhibition area of 36,000 square meters in China Taiyuan Coal Transaction Center was divided into eight zones. These sections included exhibition areas for international energy cooperation, coal science and tech innovative achievements, high-end coal chemicals technology and equipment and mining area environment treatment.

Some 400 enterprises engaged in the business of clean coal -- and efficient utilization and high-end intelligent coal mining -- attended the exhibition, including over 30 Fortune Global 500 enterprises, displaying around 15,000 products.

These demonstrated China's new achievements in the development of resource-based cities, intelligent and green coal mining, clean and efficient utilization technology, ecological protection and the latest global achievements in coal washing and processing, transformative utilization, clean production, and energy conservation.

During the exhibition, representatives from the US and Australian embassies in China, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and energy industry insiders conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges. Topics ranged from the high-quality development of China's energy industry to the environmental protection of mining areas.

The event also invited professors, experts and scholars from related universities and research institutes to give lectures on hot topics such as coal mining and deep processing in the Yellow River Basin and ecological environment.

Sponsored by the China National Coal Association, the biennial CICCE has been held for five sessions since 2010. This year's event would help enhance Shanxi energy's influence at home and abroad to a certain extent. It was of great practical significance to the province in pioneering in energy reform, promoting industrial transformation and development and to China in terms of the high-quality development of its coal industry.
