Since 2016, Hechi has vigorously developed its tourism industry, with tourism consumption increasing by more than 30 percent annually in the past few years.
From 2016 to 2019, the city received a total of 45.59 million domestic and foreign tourists, a year-on-year increase of 31.66 percent, generating 55.29 billion yuan ($8.31 biliion) in total tourism consumption, a year-on-year increase of 34.53 percent.
From January to September this year, Hechi received 23.51 million domestic and foreign tourists, recovering to 66.24 percent of the same period last year, with the total tourism consumption being 29.4 billion yuan, recovering to 65.37 percent of the same period last year.
As of September 2020, Hechi has built one tourism distribution center, nine consultation service centers above the county level, 23 tourism consultation service sites, 49 A-level scenic spots, and 45 star-rated rural tourist areas in Guangxi. It has also set up 52 farmhouses above the three-star level, 50 star-rated hotels, 42 travel agencies, 16 travel agency branches, and 44 travel agency service stations.
Hechi has improved its comprehensive tourism planning. The city and counties completed the preparation of sewage treatment project implementation plans, as well as plans for six towns and 60 key villages.
Construction of tourism projects has also been promoted. Since 2013, Hechi has implemented two rounds of infrastructure construction in the Bama International Tourism Zone, advancing 89 projects and completing an investment of 2.96 billion yuan. A total of 35 projects in other counties of Hechi have been carried out since 2018, with an investment of 1.29 billion yuan.
